An unofficial geographical or administrative area of Scotland covering the southern-most part of the Scottish Lowlands. It runs on a line from Ballantrae on the Ayrshire coast north-east towards to Dunbar in East Lothian on the North Sea coast. It includes the counties of Ayrshire, Berwick, Dumfriesshire, Kirkcudbrightshire, Peeblesshire, Roxburghshire, Selkirkshire and Wigtownshire.
