Astronomy Group: Norfolk

Breckland Astronomical Society (BreAS), founded 1993 through the efforts of Spencer Allen, first meeting at Hingham Primary School.  Since 2000 members meet at Great Ellingham Recreation Centre (NR17 1HZ).  At the same time the group established an observatory housing a 20-inch reflecting telescope at Great Ellingham.

King’s Lynn & District Astronomy Society (KLDAS), members meet monthly at Tottenhill Village Hall, WestNorfolk (PE33 0RS).

North Norfolk Astronomy Society (NNAS), founded 1998 by a group of students attending an evening class on astronomy at the Fieldview Astronomy Centre at East Barsham.  Members (30-2016) meet at Binham Village Hall (NR21 0DG) and observe from their Wiveton Observatory.

Norwich Astronomical Society (NorwAS), founded 1945 by a group of six men who came together to discuss their hobby.  Members (150-2016), first met at Colney Lane, Norwich where an observatory was built.  Due to the construction of the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital nearby, the group moved to a new dark sky site adjacent to Seething airfield (NR35 2EQ) in 1994 – former World War II airfield.  The Seething Observatory has a club house and two observatory domes were erected to house a 14-inch (35.5-cm) SCT [Genesis Dome] and a 10-inch (25-cm) catadioptric telescope [Herschel Dome].
