Cooke and Sons (1837-1922), founded by Thomas Cooke (1807-1868), a telescope and optical instrumemt maker, based in York. Traded under various names (Cooke; T. Cooke; T. Cooke & Sons) during the 19th and early 20th century – later in 1922 it took over Troughton & Simms to become Cooke, Troughton & Simms (McConnell 1992; Graces Guide).
